Think about how many people you feel close to, relatives, friends, co-workers. Now think if they were suddenly taken out of your life would you grieve? Would you feel profound sorrow? If you said yes to the last two questions I would like you to ask yourself, when was the last time you spoke to this person to ask how they were doing?
When was the last time you shared a moment of their life?
Do not come to cry at my funeral if you had no time to laugh with me during my life.

Our lives get so busy that we let friends slip through the cracks in our everyday existence. We mean well when we see something that reminds of a distant friend or relative and think to ourselves "Oh I need to give so-and-so a call" but then we never do because life goes in another direction. We use the excuse that we dont have time...but we all have the same amount of time...we just have different priorities. Sprng is in the air..a good time to Sping Clean our lives and make time for a cup of coffee with a friend, an email greeting or an actual card with a stamped envelope to just say hello.
ReplyDeleteYes, I would grieve for my friends and loved ones but only for the sadness of not being able to do any of the above anymore...but my grief would be short lived with the memories that I would have that made this person significnt in my life to begin with.
